”One of Hosan's gifts is seeing what's possible before anyone else, and then helping the rest of us catch up. Voracious, creative, and fearless, she combines deep cross-industry knowledge with an unflinching strategic mind... The UX audit she conducted of Remixed led to the desired tighter UX design but also a game-changing new understanding of how the app could grow its audience.

SECTOR: TECHNOLOGY / RESPONSIBLE INNOVATION
INCLUSIONVENTURES (2019)
Role
Innovator-in-Residence
Scope
Bias intervention framework embedded into product development workflows
Location
San Francisco, CA
United States
Engagement
-
→ Interviewed product managers at Microsoft, Google, Twitter, Salesforce, Meta
-
→ Mapped product development workflows to identify intervention points
-
→ Created hands-on workshop format (delivered at Euro IA Conference 2019)
Key Outcome: Research transferred to Meta’s Responsible Innovation team. This work preceded the current wave of AI safety discourse. The core insight – that bias scales through product decisions, not just training data – remains central to responsible AI deployment.
The Challenge
InclusionVentures was a consultancy working with clients including Twitter, Salesforce, World Economic Forum, and Omidyar Network.
Traditional approaches to DEI focus on staff training, while product development – where bias scales through technology process – remains unaddressed. As Innovator-in-Residence, I researched and designed potential systemic interventions for catching bias earlier in product development.
